Default I lost my Maya yesterday - 9 weeks old

I am stunned.

In one horrific day my little Maya got very ill and then we lost her.

I woke up to find a very sick puppy. I rushed her to the vet and they immediately began treating her for hypoglycemia and attempted to find underlying cause.

By 2:30 they asked me to transfer her to a ER animal hospital where they continued to treat her for a short time.

Turns out she had a larger than normal opening in her skull (too stressed to remember what it's called, but I know it's somewhat common in small dogs) and a few other congenital deformities.

When we got to ER her heart rate, glucose and breathing were OK (with oxygen) but within minutes her heart rate plummeted. I was sobbing the entire time at the ER.

It's unbelievable how much I miss this little girl after only being with her for a week. I keep looking around for her!

From day one I thought she was too small to be with me (not that it would have saved her). I can certainly see the wisdom in being with the Mom for 12 weeks! She was less than one pound.

So I'm going to hang around a bit but probably not post much. There is a possibility of adopting a 6 month old but I'm not sure.

Thank you for the help you have given this week.

(Maya has been donated to a teaching hospital and then I'm getting her ashes - her little life had a purpose!)
