I'm between a rock and a hard place right now and need some help deciding what to do.

My 11 month old had to have emergency surgery yesterday to remove a blockage in his intestines because he ate something he shouldn't have. He's been there for about 24 hours now and we're told he will be there for at least another 24. He's doing well and we're allowed to visit, but should we?

I know he'll be happy to see us if we go, but will be sad when we leave. I know he will cry once we turn the corner. I don't want the spike and drop in mood to affect his recovery, but seeing us might lift his spirits too.

What would you do?
