I think all small dogs share cat traits.
Your dog might prefer the cat toy because it's small.
All of mine have loved being on the back of the couch/chairs and squeezing into small places, although the yorkies are/were braver than the poodles.
I call Lola a cat frequently because she likes to rub against and between my legs like a cat and she makes some weird cat-ish noises.

My poodle used to do that lol, this is the first time I've heard of another dog doing it.
