My dogs do this in the car also -- but not always - only occasionally. Who knows why. It's hard for me to think they're stressed because they go ape and are happy happy happy whenever they think they can go for a ride. They love going anywhere with me.
Sometimes, I've wondered if it wasn't the car radio - or the air conditioner - or the heat blowing on them... whatever! Maybe we'll never know......
