Like everyone else has said yorkies are high maintenance. You need to be prepared to brush your dog everyday, brush their brush everyday and make sure they eat correctly and get enough exercise. I've had dogs my whole life and I just got my lil Yorkie with my husband and literally it's like having a baby. You also have to keep in mind they are prone to health problems and if your going to get a Yorkie you should consider pet insurance which I'm actually doing this week since my lil guy is only 13 weeks old. Another thing is having the proper toys, crate, food and training for your dog. Not all yorkies are happy. My lil guy is very quite only barks when he is playing with my husband or I or with the other does in the family. He doesn't bark at people or noses but cries when left in a crate or left at home but not for long. Really depends on the personality of the dog you choose along with lots of training if you want to break a habit. Right now we have Mr. Scruffles using potty grass to go to the bathroom since he's only 2 lbs. he's known since we got him to pee I the potty grass but pooping has been a fail till recently which took a lot of time and work to get him to go in his potty grass even though on occasion he goes in his favorite spots but thank god we don't have carpet. It's really a decision you really need To think about especially since your only 15 and may be going to college. You have to figure out if your parents are willing to take on that type of care along with grooming. Grooming is expensive I have training with my parents Maltese so I've already started to groom my lil guy but someone like you will have to get your dog groomed. I know for the Maltese it's about 50 bucks each time at the groomers and you have to go at least once a month so that alone is 600 a year on grooming. Just lay out all pros and cons maybe right now is not the right time for you to have a Yorkie and should consider another dog maybe another terrier. It's really up to you ad your parents. Good luck!
