I sew my bows to the rubber bands. I also sew them if attaching to a barrette/clip/grip, although I know may people just hot glue them. My reason for sewing, is that the bows do get dirty when worn out, and if they are sewn, they hold up better to being washed. After washing, I air dry them and then re-spray them with fabric stiffener.
