Yorkies are territorial, so many can be Yappy. How-ever you can train them to not bark so much. But still they will bark a little. And the training needs to be consistent and constant.

At your young age, I too wonder about your ability to be able to train up a puppy, and then if you go away to college what then?

There is no doubt about it that Yorkies have some health issues, and health insurance is a good thng to have. Are you willing to pay for the monthly premiums? If not, do you have a robust savings account?

My Yorkie has not been high maintenance, but I do know from this board many are. I groom my Yorkie myself, and ask my breeder to groom once in awhile if need be.

I hope that you seriously consider all your responses, and come to an informed decision on the purchase of a Yorkie.
