I feel as though I also rescued my baby from a negligent breeder. My boy was also filthy and luckily no parasites but a nasty ear infection. He was also very malnourished which I believe led to his broken leg when he jumped off the couch. But that is behind us now... He had to have surgery and 12 weeks in a soft cast... So plz be careful with your baby until you feel that he is healthy. The good food really helps improve the coat. I also drizzle a tiny amount of olive oil on his food once a day and I think it really helps with the coat. I also give him some tuna a few times a week mixed in with the dried food and sweet potato. Also a small teaspoon of cottage cheese once a day for added calcium. Other than nutrition, daily brushing can help stimulate follicle growth and it gets them used to the brushing for when the hair is longer. I also wouldn't recommend bathing too frequently. Maybe every 3-4 weeks if you must. The natural oils in the coat is very important for new hair growth in my opinion. I use baby wipes once a day to clean his face and wipe out his ears, followed with the brushing. I have already had to trim my boys hair twice (with scissors) because it has improved so drastically and growing in so nicely! Good luck and welcome to yorkie talk! I have found it so helpful with concerns that I have had!
