I add enough warm water to cover Teddy's kibble. He drinks plenty throughout the day so I'm not so worried about his hydration but I feel like soaking the kibble or feeding it combined with water makes such a dry form of food easier to digest.

With Toki, I add water even to her canned food so that it's almost soupy to promote better urinary tract health. She hasn't had any urinary crystals/bladder stones over the past year (which is always a concern with her) since I started doing this and I think feeding her canned food and adding water to it has contributed to preventing them (maybe...). I definitely soak any amount of kibble she eats and mix it with canned. She also doesn't drink a lot of water like Teddy so I feel better giving her extra moisture with her meals just to keep her adequately hydrated.

My parents' beagle is finicky and definitely wouldn't touch soaked kibble and also doesn't like canned dog food mixed in...she's a picky one!
