www.cyta.ca they do have a list of breeder members, who you can contact to see if a) this breeder is a member and or b) if the breeder members have knowledge of this particular breeder.
I think that a healthy pup with good structure coming from Canadian Champions should command even in Alberta at least $1200 prox. For this I would want a meaningfull health guarantee, and some assurance that this breeder is knowledgeable enough and willing to support their puppy buyers after the purchase.
IMO $5000 is way way too much to pay for a pet dog - that is more in line with a show quality dog. I would check as well as I am able the selling prices for Yorkies in Alberta from show champs, as where I live, the most expensive city in Canada things here go for more $$.
