We have a dog food factory in our area. My daughter spoke with an employee on several occasions. The place has rules about how to clean machines after each run of food but apparently many times the rules are not kept. They have cameras in the factory that are supposed to help keep employees on the up and up but the films are not always watched so many times foods that can be contaminated can slip through.

I know that occasionally someone will get fired for not taking proper care of equipment. Management can go back over months of film in order to find what happened but that is time consuming. There are many ways food can become contaminated, sometimes before it reaches the factory and sometimes somewhere during the production process. It takes good management and an honest commitment to high quality production in order to create truly clean manufactured food of any kind on a regular basis.
