I had the same problem. I finally gave in last week and had Barney cut to a layered puppy cut. I am unable to load photos for some reason, but here is a board I have on pinterest for cute cuts. My groomer left Barney's overall length but layered his hair so that it doesn't tangle as easily. I gave him a bath last night and he was tangle free. I hadn't combed him since Tuesday of last week. This cut still gives him a fluffy puppy look.

Barney is a cutie! My Buster is cut similar to this...or he was before he was shaved for his last surgery. I like this cut a lot.
