Default Encephalitis Diagnosis

I wanted to give everyone an update on my Biewer baby. He was diagnosed in mid-December, 2013 with encephalitis. He has made a fair improvement with the drugs he is taking, but it is not as good as I had wished. However, he is not in pain and seems to be stable. I have been told that this disease is incurable and fatal, and it is only a matter of time. It is heartbreaking. He is the sweetest dog I've ever had, and it is so unfair - he is only 2 1/2 years old. I am hoping for the longest remission possible, but I am trying to be realistic at the same time. It has now been almost 6 months since diagnosis. Again, very heartbreaking.

Anyone out there with any advice on new meds or anything at all?
