Very good reminder. I have seen only 1 copperhead in the 11 years that I have been back in Virginia. Teddy and I were walking, he was sniffing in the grass when I looked down and saw the baby copperhead.
I yanked Teddy's leash and sent him flying. Then I took a closer look and realized the baby snake was dead. Whew!
Snakes do not typically like manicured landscapes (fertilized lawns that have been treated with bug killer), although not guaranteed. Eliminate wood piles and water sources to help keep them out of your yard.
