Ear mites are terrible but they show themselves with some head-shaking, rubbing and scratching and that's the time you go to the vet - after a few headshakes and a couple of scratches.

Normally, no matter what else is going wrong in one's life, a person doesn't wait until it's this bad because they can't stand to see their dog dealing with such agony, let alone when one knows a holiday weekend is approaching and it will require a vet ER to get care. Still, many vets are open on Memorial Day part of the time after noon. This dog must be seen by a real vet and not diagnosed by online amateurs, tests done and the little baby diagnosed as to what is causing her terrible itching to the point she's scratching so constantly and hard she's drawing blood and forming scabs. The ear mites can advance into a serious inflammation and then infection sets in.

And with will and enough determination, one can drive to a veterinary ER 24/7/365 - yes, they are open even on Christmas - if it takes 200 miles but at least the dog will get help before it goes berserk. Poor little miserable dog.
