Seems like we've found a solution to our problem. We now walk Bentley up to 4 miles a day; 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. The walk to Starbucks is a mile, so my wife and I walk to Starbucks and back with him, and now we don't have an issue with him sleeping at night. He still wakes up between 4:30am and 5:30am, so one of us has to get up and let him out, but that's better than waking up twice a night and having him cry.
He still cries a little when we put him back in his crate after he's gone out to pee. He tends to have a ton of energy when he comes out of his crate, so we just wait it out until he calms down |
