Regarding your question, It depends on the Yorkie. I have both a female and a male. I got the male first and then the female. Evie (female) is not territorial at all, she's very loving and "my little shadow". Leroy (male) is also really loving, loves being around us but I would say out of the two he is a little more independent, and more territorial with his stuff.

I think that as for advantages of female over male is there's cuter things for females as dresses, bows, etc. while for males there's less stuff. Advantages of males over females is that males tend to be priced less than females as another member already mentioned.
