Then we play and he is typical Yorkie (hyper). He will drink off and on all evening. He also begs for food the rest of the evening. Is this o.k.? It seem to me he should be eating twice a day. What can I do to get him to east in the morning?
Dogs can be just like people in the sence that not everyone is a breakfast eater. Maybe try free feeding dry kibble during the day.
I free feed my Yorkies so i've never had to deal with this problem but I do think a whole day up until 6:00pm is too long for a dog to go without food. Think about how you'd feel if you couldn't eat all day.
If he doesn't eat in the morning and if you can't come home from work at lunch time to feed him then i would maybe try to hire someone to come in and feed him around noon so he doesn't have to wait until 6pm but that's if your against free feeding during the day.
