1st off, NEVER, EVER leave your dog in the car by it's self. I don't care if you can see them, you never do this. You have no idea what may happen.

Yes, I am of the opinion that a dog needs to learn to be left alone while you go out. You can start this by leaving for a few minutes at a time and then increase the time you are gone. Don't make a big deal out of leaving, and the same as when you return.

We can't take them every where, so they must learn.
