mace in most states is illegal. I know postal delivery ppl, they carry pepper spray for just this reason, aggressive, stray dogs. I agree, if this guy was so scared, I would be watching that dog, not bending down, taking my eyes off this "aggressive attack dog" and picking up a rock, then getting close enough to this "aggressive attack dog" to bash him in the head with the rock. Also agree that the act is too personal. Unless the media shouts out with very strong voices, IMO this mailman will pay NO penalty, his reasoning is "self defense". I agree with ladyjane, dogs do sometimes get away from the best of owners, but not a reason to kill a 10# dog. There were neighbors out, if the lil dog did attack the mailman those neighbors would have been there in a flash to aid the mail man, no reason to kill the dog, it could have been reported to animal control. I do hope he pays some sort of penalty. Just horrible for the ppl that owned and loved this lil guy.
