I feel your pain. My Molli has a cotton coat and I keep it short pretty much all year. I grew her ears out at one point but even those got matted up. I found Johnson&Johnson baby hair detangler works pretty well but you pretty much have to brush them everyday. On the plus side I like that she will always look like a puppy
