A collar will irritate a collapsed trachea, but is not the cause! Collapsed trachea is a condition where the cartilage is weakened. Once, diagnosed, it is important not to walk with collars and to keep the pup's weight down which is another huge trigger. Also they should be kept calm and cool.

Trainers do encourage collars but you can try a harness to see if it works.
