Usually not a sign that they are lacking anything in their diet. My boys do it to be rascals. Some days are worse than others. I have to keep an eye on their mouths constantly.
Bunny poop and bird droppings are their favorites. I've been told that these are potential carriers of Lepto, so I discourage the licking and eating. They know when I say "icky!" that they need to move along or they are going to get a helicopter ride in their harness away from the offensive material.
