Windwalker is right. You can even include a little soft blankie. Make everything a positive experience. When he is comfy with the carrier, take him places in it that he likes. Associate with positive experiences, treats.
I also agree about the vet. Work on making that a positive experience. Talk to him during the trip. These little ones are so smart and pick up words and phrases and their meaning. I always tell my guys, "Going to see the doctor. He is going to make you better, and then we are going to go home and lunch with your brother and grandpa." Praise helps too. Good luck!
