I'd use Google image and type in canine or dog clipper burn and see what the images look like. I'd take a picture of it, be sure to keep her wound treated and don't let her lick it, ask the groomer for an explanation and take her to the vet if it get inflamed or swollen.

I'm sure sorry to hear about your dad and hope he's better soon. I've seen wonders worked in stroke rehab.
