As a child we had a bouvier, dobermans and a pit bull. I've had cocker spaniels and love the breed . So I could own another .

I watched a family members boxer for a few months and he was fun, sweet but a little too much for me. I like a semi lazy dog .

So with that said breeds I like and could possibly own are;

English bulldog ( we were seriously considering one but I'm picky about shedding and lots of drool )
Doberman (a red one that's pretrained)

But in all honesty , I will probably be a small dog person the rest of my life though . But I do love to play with all dogs. Cats on the other hand not so much.
