My baby stayed really small and grew slowly as a pup. She was so tiny she scared me. She acted like she thought she was a big dog. She was well over a year old when she finally reached 5lbs but she was a very picky eater as a pup.

I find that most breeders tell people that the puppy will be 4 to 5lbs but unless the puppies have been line bred and the breeder is very familiar with what the ancestry of the pups produced they can't make a true estimate of adult weight.

Most small breed pups should not have their shots on the same schedule as a larger breed pup. They are given the same amount of vaccine as the larger pups so they really need time to grow to be able to handle the vaccinations. Gracie got one injection at a time and had them more than a month apart. We took her for tech visits for most of them and there was no charge for those visits. The vet has to do the rabies injection though.
