Correct. The microchip needs to be registered with the company that produced it ONCE. There is a one time fee. You should be sent all the registering info after the chip is implanted. You pay the vet a fee for placing the chip and the microchip all at the same time. When you go online to put your info in there should be no further fees to pay.
