You did the right thing but breeding him wouldn't be. At this point he is a rescue and you have no idea the hell he has possibly been through so fixing him and loving him like you are doing now is the best option. When your a good breeder it's not just about breeding full breed dogs it's also about bettering the breed. In order to do tht you have to know his lines to know if any illnesses run in them otherwise you could be setting him up to pass on genetic illnesses that could cause his puppies to suffer a lot and or the buyers heart break and thousands of dollars. Studs also will mark all over you house. Please do not breed him.
