Well I think you should try to grow it if you can. But from my experience I think genetics have something to do with it. My Deuce has one heck of a head of hair and less on his legs. My daughter's yorkie has skimpy head hair and thick hair on her legs. Guess what???? You can't grow it more on either one of them. We keep them on a similar diet and they both are quite healthy. Well maybe we could oil the coats a bit but I don't think they'll grow more or get any thicker. The solution to her topknot problem . . . I cut her down to a little funky cropped do and make her statement that way. With Deuce I had to braid his hair. Of course I could have gone with a traditional topknot but what the heck. That make's his statement.
