I think it might be a reaction to the internal stitches. When they close skin there are several layers of suture and they use dissolvable stitches for the inside layer. Does the area feel warm to the touch or look like there might be fluid under the surface? A seroma could show up weeks after a surgery but usually the area is warm and more of a deep reddish/purple color.
