I've had a very hard time reading this thread and checking in on it because of some recent things I have gone through, its just too sad and I relate to Pipers MOM regarding when and what is "enough".....all I can tell you at some point you WILL know, its awful and gut wrenching and you will always second guess yourself....anyway...
Yes this does indeed sound like some Toxic substance/food etc was introduced in to the pups system. I find it necessary to post about this here because it is important to OP and those who come along and read this thread.
OP have you looked at the food and toxic substance list to see if there is anything that could have been given to Piper inadvertently?
Several years back my MINI (7lbs.)was hospitalized in critical care and we almost lost her because I FED HER grapes, about 6-8 of them. I had no idea at that time how toxic they were to pets. Her liver was affected and she was up and down for a good week. I'm sorry I don't remember her numbers etc, I just remember the roller coaster it was. Once the vet was able to ascertain from making me go over every single thing I DID that day I then said and "thats it doc she was playing and everything just a couple hours before this started" what was she playing with? "she was chasing the grapes I threw to her like a maniac and having a great time"....GRAPES SHE YELLED AND RAN OUT OF THE ROOM(conversation not exact).....Mini survived but it was an awful, awful roller coaster and very expensive and a horrible, guilt ridden (to this day) experience....
