Even if it turns out this isn't a congenital liver disease-related problem with Piper, a breeder of Yorkshire Terriers that claims she's never heard of either MVD or liver shunt is appalling and truly frightening. It's apparent Piper's breeder has little intellectual curiosity or sense of responsibility of a dog-breeder's duty and burden, if you will, to constantly inform themselves about the dangerous, genetic medical conditions being spread like wildfire throughout the breed due lack of knowledge and/or total indifference to the misery being perpetuated with their irresponsible breeding practices. That shocking response from a long-time Yorkie breeder, though it's sadly certainly not a surprise, once again informs us there has always been a type of breeder who could care less about what kind of dog they produce as long as it's cute enough to sell!!!
I'm truly sorry the news is not better today and will stay in prayer for to precious little Piper finally be able to fight this off in these next hours and get through this medical crisis. I know you have done all that you could to get her the best care there is and you should be commended for your caring and responsible actions once she got sick. You also informed her breeder of her dangerous breeding methods which include failing to inform herself of basic facts of genetically-inherited medical conditions of the Yorkshire Terrier, so that all reading your thread will know - if they didn't already - that this type of breeder is still out there - even in this day and time when information is so easily available - and is a danger to this wonderful breed, whether or not she was directly involved in Piper's current medical dilemma.
This thread is a heartbreaking but awfully important thread in so many ways for long-timers and newbies to read but the only point now is we all hope and pray for a miracle for Piper.
