The red splotchy areas look like pyoderma to me...this is a staph intermedius infection of the skin. To treat it, you must do antibiotics from the vet. To diagnose, the vet would just need to do a quick skin scraping and look at it under scope. I would get your kiddo in asap before it gets worse.
