I know the vet is the monster of this story, but I can't help but feel angry as well towards the dad and mom. What kind of example are they giving their children by just leaving behind the body of a family member they spent 5 years with?

I can understand when owners willingly hand over the bodies of their pets for the sake of research that could save the lives of more animals. It's the same dilema people have when their human family members can become organ donors. But I really doubt this was the case with poor Sid.
