I thought it was odd that the vet thinks she's gonna be a big Yorkie when she's just a pound. I can't imagine her being any smaller than a pound at almost 8 weeks old. I thought being a pound was about average for her age. Does it sound like she's a big puppy to you guys? I mean I'll love her regardless of her mature weight but ideally I'd love her to be between 5-7 lbs so she can be easily taken places with me. |
It's hard to tell when they're that age how big they'll be. I got 2 of mine at 9 weeks old. Bear was 1 pound 10 ounces when I got him. He's now 14 1/2 and about 3 1/2 pounds but when he was healthier (he's in kidney failure now) he would stay between 4 1/2 to 5 pounds. Haley is 13 now and I believe she was right around 2 pounds when I got her at 9 weeks and she weighs about 7 pounds now. Personally I like them to be a little bigger, they're not as fragile.
