Taylor has been around here long enough to see far too many takes of puppies left alone and suffering from hypoglycemia as well as other issues brought about by puppies going to their new homes at a much too early age.
I'm glad the OP found a pet sitter. However, I am floored that ANY vet would approve vaccinations at such an early age. At 7/8 weeks, the puppy still using antibodies provided by the mother dog. Many studies have shown that vaccines that early are pretty worthless and recommend not starting vaccines until between 9-12weeks. Vaccines then take 2-3 weeks to fully trigger an effective immune response.
There are other reasons that reputable breeders won't release pups to their new owners before they are 12 weeks old. The OP states that the people who will be watching the pup pups?) are "yorkie experts", so hopefully they truly are well versed in the needs of such a young pup.
