My Dolly has had beautiful floor length hair forever. Since she's not a show dog I've taken some liberties & found some places where I see no reason to have the long hair:

1)I cut all the chest hair very short
2)I trim a lot of hair in the butt area (if poop gets caught on the hair I figure that hair doesn't belong there!)
3)the topknot hair is cut short which keeps the topknot lighter & much easier to keep in place.
4.)Sometimes I'll layer some of the hair just below the back (top) of her neck where her harness hits. I've noticed she has so much hair in that area it's nice to have a little less hair for the harness to mess up. This isn't noticeable at all.

The only slightly tricky one is #4, all the others are very easy to do.

Good luck!
