my parents had a rental once where one of the tenants gotten a dog in violation of their rental agreement. my parents were trusting, they never checked. when they moved, their deposit couldn't begin to pay for the carpet replacement and cleaning the yard of dried poop. guess who had to help with the cleaning... yeah... you bet i was annoyed. being an animal lover doesn't mean it's okay to violate rules you don't like at the expense of others. this may not be something you want to hear, but it's the truth. |
That's right, if you can get away with it...do it! And, again this is MY HO, but I for one feel that whether or not a landlord allows pets, the person having the pet should clean up after their pet. I am moving into my own house in March, and am glad to get out of the apartment. I actually didn't like not being able to take Baby out for a walk and being worried that I would bother my neighbors. Would I do it again? HELL yes! As I explained to Bob (Builder) in a PM [which we had a very nice convo] just as landlords may have reasons for not allowing pets, people have reasons for getting them. For some, pets help aid in the battle of depression (and other ailments), and I would rather clean up poop and a carpet for someone violating their lease agreement then have them deal with that. But, you are right...a person shouldn't get a pet IF they are not taking responsibility for that pet. I keep my apartment pristine, and before I move out I will professionally have the carpets cleaned, even though I know they will do it. People who have pets in an apartment when they shouldn't probably have tons of reasons why they need a furbaby...and maybe they can't afford a place that allows pets. I know that all the luxury apts. in my area in Jersey don't allow pets...and I'll tell you this...I wouldn't move to a dump just to keep Baby. I'm gonna move into luxury and pay the consequences. But, I don't have to worry about that, because this girl is buying a brandy spanking new house that Baby can poop all she wants in the yard!
