Thank you all my dear friends! Cardiologist said Monte has a grade 2 murmur and concurs with his regular vet. Heart is somewhat enlarged but everything appears good. No fluid retention or cough. Everything is a good sign. In every other way he is healthy for 11. She did an echocardiogram ultrasound and said the mitral valve is slightly damaged and that it's genetic. She would classify him as having Mild Heart disease as opposed to moderate, advanced or severe? She feels he does NOT need the meds his vet prescribed as he has no symptoms. She wants a salt free diet, CoQ 10 and fish/flaxseed oil supplement daily. Exercise as much as he wants and wants to see him in 6 months. Hopefully things will be the same but if anything has changed it will be dealt with as time goes on with other meds. She wants him to eat his regular food with supplements, carrots, sweet potatoes, eggs, beets and spinach. I mentioned raw food from a specific company and she is not big on raw food. She gave me hope he can be with me for a few more years. She was a sweetheart. That's all I ask as his everything to me. Mor importantly, I have all my new friends at Yorkietalk who have shown me such love and concern at a most upsetting time. Your testimonials and advice have uplifted me these past few days before the cardiologist visit, that I would check in each day as I felt better after hearing from all of you.
