I'm not super scared about them being unsupervised for 12 hours, as long as they'd be kenneled. Even if you had a pet service who stopped in each day at your home, they'd be alone for 12 hours+. So, it's not the time that bothers me, it's whether they'll be safe.
Have you looked into a twice a day stop-in home service? Bc that's usually about the same price as a kennel, or not much different. Might be an option so that he can stay at home. |
I don't think that ANY boarding facility would be allowed to leave dogs unattended, loose, at night. I saw her post above that said at night, they are put away in individual kennels. Most of the ones I know also give the dogs breaks mid-day as well to go be by themselves. OR certain dogs don't even have to mingle with other dogs. Our local boarding facility has an area where your dog can be let out by themselves. But it sounds as if Ian is a social dude and wouldn't mind the occasional company during the day.
If Ian is a social dog, and has been to Camp Bow Wow before, I would opt for that instead of leaving him crated nearly all day with only a few breaks at the vets. 10 days is a long time at the vets IMO.
