I'm far to lazy to want to take over the mommie dog's job - as if I could - and bottle feed a puppy and be sure it's peed/pooped properly and the constant cleaning up after it - ugh, the watching over it, keeping it warm enough, listening to it whine and whine for companionship and all of that. Plus, I'll never be able to naturally nurture and train a young puppy in general living and social skills, bite inhibition or provide the same sense of security as the mother.
I'd much rather bring a 4 - 8 month old dog with enough brain development, body-waste retention-ability and some beginner self-control skills into my home and begin to work with it than a tiny, infant puppy. I've never seen the lure of bringing a very loud, young dog into the home and take over its full care 24/7!!! Ugh! Not for me. But most of all, to me, it's cruel to the young baby and robs it of so many of the things it needs to get a good, sound, early start in life the natural way.
