I can see where crystals, certain fabrics, and intense hand work increase the price, but the $$$ prices of these items also reminds me of a story I read about Martha Stewart in her early days . . . .
She was selling home baked pies at a local market and had a price tag of $5 on them. No one would buy. Fed up, she changed the price to something like $20. Suddenly, the pies started selling faster than she could make them.
The pies seemed better or more like a luxury at a higher price. Higher prices create an aura of exclusivity and specialness.
