Hi Amy, congratulations on your new puppy!

I agree with Ann that he could be adjusting to his new home, and his appetite may increase. Like you, I have never fed the recommended amount on the food bags. They tend to overestimate even for the most active dogs with big appetites.

Also, I had to hand feed Max his entire first year. He ate very little out of his bowl. I agree with not forcing to eat, but if you are ever concerned that he does need more -- you can try using the food as rewards for trick training or potty rewards.
