The time required for potty training is the same amount of time that would be required for checking and changing diapers. If a dog is left in soiled diapers, she will likely develop an infection and skin problems.
For both of your sakes, I would potty train. Confine her to a small area, xpen or gated off room, and start with the basics. If your time is limited, I would go with piddle pad training.
