Wow, that's a unique story. Well, since the breeder wasn't experienced, you might need to keep an extra look-out for genetic issues that she didn't or couldn't test for. Seeing a good vet who is experienced with Yorkies will help a lot--they will be able to check for luxating patella, liver issues, etc., if any symptoms develop (and hopefully they won't develop!). I wish the best of health and happiness to your new one, and shame on the breeder for revealing the price of your boyfriend's gift, LOL!
