To check her gums, just lift the outer lip up, like they do when they growl or show their teeth. No need to pry open her mouth. You would feel the stickie-ness, like glue. Medium pink is good. Moist gums your finger will slide smoothly over them, and your finger may feel a bit moist, once removed.
