As you say, most people love their dogs no matter what size the grow to, but it does not keep them from wishing for something that fits the standard for their breed. Unfortunately with so many people willing to put a deposit on puppies before they are born or take one home at 7-8 weeks, this keeps happening.
I just wish the standard would change or yorkies would be more like poodles with different sizes. I would love to one day be able to go to a reputable breeder and get a 17 pound yorkie. If people who want a certain size want a puppy they would have to wait until the pup was about 6 or 7 months old and unless the pup is a show prospect then most breeders won't keep them that long.
