Free feeding is a great convenience and I used to do it when Wylie was younger. A big part of me misses it bc I think most animals are marvelous at self regulating / free feeding...and it causes them less anxiety from waiting for dinner times. Now that I feed raw though, I do it 2x a day.
The only small caveat I'd mention here is we have seen dogs choke on pieces of kibble. As long as your 2 seem to eat safely, it should be okay.
