Literally! We recently adopted a five-year-old dog from the local shelter, and I'm not sure what we have adopted. lol

We know he's (a) a dog, (b) having neuter surgery in a few hours, (c) adorable and loved by his new owners (DH and me).
The shelter told us they didn't know what he might be...so they said maybe he's a silky since he's bigger than the Yorkie they have. I've been looking at pictures of silky terriers, though, and there's some variety...but I'm just not convinced. "Finnegan's" face doesn't seem to resemble the silky in that silkies seem to have a longer nose with more projection over the lower jaw.
His ears flop, but so do two and a half of the other four ears in the house, and they are on Yorkie noggins.
His coloring is light like my off-standard male yorkie, but his saddle is silver/gray. He's twelve pounds and around twelve inches tall, very lean and muscular. The silky terrier seems to be lower to the ground and longer, unless the photos I've looked at are somewhat misleading.
He points, like my little female Yorkie does, with his paw raised. He's highly energetic and smart, and we love him madly.
I'm just not sure what to tell the groomer he is when he goes in for a much-needed haircut. I may just have the groomer give him a similar cut to the one my Yorkie male has.
Any thoughts?
